In his position Fabian reported directly to me and was mainly responsible for all M&A activities connected to our Asian expansion plans that we had just rolled out when Fabian joined us. Thus Fabian played a major role in the initial steps of our expansion phase.
In particular, Fabian executed the whole M&A process comprising the pre-deal evaluation, deal preparation, planning, and executions by taking the following measures, here presented in chronological order:
- Investigated the market in various Asian countries, in particular Thailand, Malaysia and Greater China and defined the targets for a potential takeover.
- Created a feasible and future-orientated strategy.
- Collected information of the relevant companies and prepared a SWOT-analysis.
- Investigated in detail companies in the respective countries under the consideration of the local legislation.
- Headed the respective due diligence team to coordinate the internal and external resources working on commercial, financial, legal, tax, HR, and environmental matters.
- Cooperated seamlessly with lawyers and auditors, mainly of the Asian branches of global consulting and law firms.
- Planned a takeover’s budget comprising negotiation of the purchase price, ROI, negotiation of the contracts for the transaction including payment structure.
Fabian impressed us right from the start with his profound professional knowledge, his remarkable business acumen and his highly effective hands-on approach. It took him an exceptionally short time to overlook the whole market and identify attractive takeover targets. Due to his finely honed strategic and operational abilities plus his longstanding experience in doing business in Asia Fabian developed efficient plans to execute a takeover, showing outstanding analytical and problem solving skills.
Furthermore I would like to emphasize Fabians leadership and people management, especially during the due diligence process, which was of great help to generate correct figures that in turn were vital to the further strategy design. He executed the commercial part of the due diligence process to evaluate the future potential of the target, the overall revenue volume reaching up to 50MEUR. Indeed, there was a significant overlap between the presented figures on behalf of the company and the company’s real value. We could perfectly rely on Fabian’s reports and advice.
Fabian combines a sales and customer orientated mentality with very good communication skills and an exemplary entrepreneurial spirit. With his convincing negotiation style and his pleasant and co-operative personality, Fabian established a close relationship of mutual trust with the management of the potential target company and its customers.
I am happy to state that Fabian definitely proved to be a visionary, energetic, and absolutely reliable leader who always lived up to our highest expectations. But we also very much appreciated his honest and serious manner as well as his good sense of humor within our management team.
Unfortunately, Fabian has been offered another career chance. As a result, he is leaving us on his own account, which we regret. However we would like to underline that Fabian helped us find a suitable successor and he even introduced him to his job.
